Brain nourishment, protection and regeneration / immune system balance / anti-cancer activity / nervous system replenishment
Lion’s Mane Mushroom (Hericium Erinaceus) is most widely known for its capacity to nourish and heal the brain. Constituents within this fungi’s fluffy white hair-like spines have the ability to cross the blood-brain barrier to directly support brain cells and nerve regeneration.
Multiple studies have demonstrated that through the stimulation of nerve growth, regeneration of neurons and encouraging the rebuilding of the myelin sheath (which protects nerve cells from damage), Lion’s Mane can assist with mental focus, memory and knowledge retention, as well as support for symptoms of degenerative diseases such as dementia, Alzheimers and in cases of injury and trauma such as concussion and stroke.
The polysaccharides contained within Lion’s Mane, called beta-glucans, are known to support immune health by way of modulation (finding balance) and can be particularly useful in cases of autoimmunity. These polysaccharides can also have an ant-inflammatory action on the gut and brain and can be particularly useful in situations of stomach ulcers, liver issues, blood sugar imbalances and diabetes.
Lion’s Mane has also been shown to have anti-tumour activity in the liver and gastrointestinal tract. Like Reishi, medicinal mushrooms such as this have been shown to be useful in conjunction with mainstream cancer protocols such as radiation and chemotherapy.
Lion’s Mane is also widely utilised for the restoration of a depleted nervous system which can influence overall feelings of wellbeing, experiences of anxiety, depression and insomnia.
Lastly, the benefits of Lion’s Mane and Reishi can be amplified by their combination! So in lieu of my getting around to blending a formula, the Lion’s Mane Elixir can be used in conjunction with my Reishi Elixir which is also available to purchase in the shop.
To ensure the most potent, broad-spectrum elixir that ensures polysaccharide survival and shelf-stability, I utilised Arielle de Martinez’s triple extraction method in this preparation. Featuring local Lion’s Mane and raw honey, this elixir is delicious with a syrup-like consistency that is pleasurable to consume directly, or can incorporated into your morning tea or coffee, smoothie or drizzled over yoghurt.
Ingredients
Fresh locally grown Hericium Erinaceus, vodka, local raw honey, organic vegetable glycerine, distilled water.
